MLK Day

In our class we celebrated MLK in several ways this year. We watched Our Friend, Martin and read the book ...IF YOU LIVED AT THE TIME OF Martin Luther King. We talked about segregation and how MLK worked to fight for everyones civil rights. AMPT teachers also taught lessons to the 2nd grade classes which included the following:
  • Watched a YouTube video about MLK (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6Au81aHuSg&feature=related)
  • Debriefed about what Martin Luther King stood for
  • Focused on Service and Peace
  • Sang songs and used sign language
  • Explored with the HUGE parachute to show unity.
  • We sang a song that the kids filled in the words for “Under one sky” as Ms. Ritter played the guitar.
  • The annual Jump Rope Competition: Adrianna Sewell as winner
If you have time, please continue our discussions at home.
